Thornhill MPP participates in ceremony recognizing youth volunteers in the GTA
(Thornhill) Peter Shurman MPP, Thornhill was delighted to bestow the Chabad Youth Network's Teens for the Community (CYN-TFC) awards on 45 hardworking youth from Thornhill and the Greater GTA at a ceremony held yesterday at the Petach Tikvah Synagogue in North York. Shurman noted, "The world needs more youth and adults taking an interest in the wellbeing of their community."
CYN-TFC engages in various activities to give back to their communities in the Greater Toronto Area. These initiatives include becoming Big Brothers and Big Sisters and befriending seniors in their local communities. Rabbi Shmuli Nachlas, the coordinator of the Chabad Youth Network has been instrumental in inspiring teens to create, plan and execute community social action programs.
Shurman spent the evening meeting these outstanding teens and noted the true dedication and spirit they bring to their volunteer activities.
?TFC has helped bring joy to the elderly, the disadvantaged and those in need for a number of years. The real triumph of this initiative is that the catalyst was the teens' desire to give back to their communities? Shurman acknowledged.
