Ontarians Not Fooled by April?s Job Figures
PC Economic Development Critic says manufacturing sector still in sharp decline
?There is no good news for Ontarians when good-paying manufacturing jobs are replaced with those paying minimum wage. The creation of minimum wage jobs does nothing to generate tax dollars or economic growth, both of which are sadly lacking in Dalton McGuinty?s Ontario,? Shurman said.
?This week the Premier said that reality is our friend. When the stark reality is that Ontario?s unemployment rate remains stuck at 8.8% and the manufacturing sector continues to shed precious jobs, it?s time Dalton McGuinty started looking for some new companions,? stated Peter Shurman.

Ontarians
Not Fooled by April?s Job Figures
PC Economic
Development Critic says manufacturing sector still in sharp decline
(Queen?s Park) ? Thornhill MPP and PC Critic for
Economic Development and Trade, Peter Shurman cautioned today that April?s job
figures are no cause to celebrate.
?There is no good news for Ontarians when good-paying
manufacturing jobs are replaced with those paying minimum wage. The
creation of minimum wage jobs does nothing to generate tax dollars or economic
growth, both of which are sadly lacking in Dalton McGuinty?s Ontario,? Shurman said.
Shurman noted that while the rest of Canada is moving towards economic recovery, Ontario remains
paralyzed because of Liberal policies of runaway spending, a crippling deficit
and soaring energy prices. The loss of manufacturing jobs in Ontario in April demonstrates that the McGuinty Liberals
continue to strip Ontario
families of well-paying jobs.
?This week the Premier said that reality is our
friend. When the stark reality is that Ontario?s unemployment rate
remains stuck at 8.8% and the manufacturing sector continues to shed precious
jobs, it?s time Dalton McGuinty started looking for some new companions,?
stated Peter Shurman.
