Peter Shurman, MPP tackles litter during the Vaughan 20 Minute Makeover

Mr. Shurman noted, "While litter in Thornhill has become an issue, we can all do our part to make a difference. I am delighted that we, the older generation, can take a cue from youth like those around me today on how to make that difference."

"Most people talk a big game when they say that they will be more environmentally conscious, but today, during the 20 minute makeover, no one has an excuse to walk by litter; everybody can tidy up around them during the lunch break." Shurman said.

Peter Shurman, MPP tackles litter during the Vaughan 20 Minute Makeover

(Thornhill): Peter Shurman, MPP for Thornhill, pitched in with Mayor Jackson, Members of Council and the staff and students at Bakersfield Public School to make over a little part of Thornhill this afternoon during the 3rd annual Vaughan 20 Minute Makeover.

Mr. Shurman noted, "While litter in Thornhill has become an issue, we can all do our part to make a difference. I am delighted that we, the older generation, can take a cue from youth like those around me today on how to make that difference."

The staff and students participated in the City of Vaughan's 3rd annual 20 Minute Makeover, an event in honour of Earth Week.  This event aims to make our communities a cleaner place to live.  Mr. Shurman has been a part of this initiative for the past two years and was pleased to participate again this year.

"Most people talk a big game when they say that they will be more environmentally conscious, but today, during the 20 minute makeover, no one has an excuse to walk by litter; everybody can tidy up around them during the lunch break." Shurman said.

The ?20 Minute Makeover? initiative is a seven year old program that was started to bring environmental awareness to the community. Since the program?s inception, Thornhill and the GTA have seen regional pollution and litter levels reduced significantly.
