?I want to congratulate these 44 extraordinary Thornhill residents for the countless volunteer hours they have dedicated to organizations across the GTA that provide invaluable services to Ontarians. Shurman Congratulates Local Recipients of Volunteer Service Awards
Thornhill MPP attends ceremony honouring local volunteers
(Thornhill): Yesterday, PC MPP Peter Shurman attended a Volunteer Service Awards ceremony in Richmond Hill, just one of many such ceremonies being held across Ontario this spring to recognize the work and efforts of local volunteers.
?In the words of Winston Churchill, ?You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.? The recipients from Thornhill who received a volunteer service award demonstrate the important contribution that volunteering makes to the well-being and betterment of society,? stated Peter Shurman, MPP for Thornhill.
The Volunteer Service Awards are given out each year by the Government of Ontario to publicly thank thousands of volunteers for the many hours of volunteer activity contributed to the community. Youth volunteers are recognized for two or more years of continuous service to an organization while adults are recognized for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 and 60+ years of continuous service.
