?What the Premier continues to fail to acknowledge is that his high taxes, massive deficit and soaring energy costs give companies like Crown Metal Packaging more than enough reasons to close some of their operations in Ontario,? said Shurman.
?There was nothing in the Liberal budget that convinced Crown Metal Packaging that it could afford to keep this plant open any longer. No one said economic recovery was easy. So why is Dalton McGuinty making it that much harder for companies like Crown Metal Packaging and the 159 people it employs in my riding?? asked Peter Shurman.

Liberal Budget Drives Jobs Out of Thornhill
PC Economic Development Critic says closure of local plant an indictment of Liberal record
(Queen?s Park) ? Thornhill MPP and PC Critic for Economic Development, Peter Shurman called on Premier McGuinty in Question Period today to take responsibility for making Ontario too expensive for companies like Crown Metal Packaging to continue operating in the riding of Thornhill.
?What the Premier continues to fail to acknowledge is that his high taxes, massive deficit and soaring energy costs give companies like Crown Metal Packaging more than enough reasons to close some of their operations in Ontario,? said Shurman.
Shurman was referring to the recent announcement that Crown Metal Packaging will shut down its Keele Street plant in Concord in December, putting 159 people out of work.
