THORNHILL MPP CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION TO RESTORE CONFIDENCE
Queen?s Park Ontario employment numbers released by Statistics Canada today echo the concerns that Peter Shurman, MPP (Thornhill) has been hearing from his constituents over the past twelve months.
"They're worried,? Shurman said, expressing concern over the growing number of Thornhill constituents who talk to him about their employment and their future. ?I?ve never witnessed this level of uncertainty before.?
Shurman added that his constituents like all Ontarians are looking for solutions from their government and can no longer be put on hold while the McGuinty Liberals fiddle with their so called five point plan.
?The ?wait and see? approach that is the mantra of the McGuinty government is not working for Ontario. Dalton McGuinty needs a new plan and he must introduce it now if we are to have any hope of restoring confidence in our province,? Shurman added.
Since his re-election in 2007 Dalton McGuinty has presided over 86,000 private sector job losses with over 100, 000 jobs lost in the manufacturing sector. Instead of stimulating the economy to create full time positions, the McGuinty approach has so far succeeded only in expanding the number of government jobs.
?Dalton McGuinty and his government have given Ontario only excuses, finger pointing and procrastination. The Premier must either introduce a new and effective plan to get our economy moving again or he should just admit that he doesn?t have any idea on how to get this province back on track. Either way we need action right now,? Shurman concluded.
