Thornhill families pay for Liberal economic mismanagement

Jul 28, 2008

(Thornhill) Progressive Conservative M.P.P. Peter Shurman (Thornhill) is fed up with the McGuinty government?s lack of action on the economy and holds Liberal mismanagement responsible for the loss of 2000 jobs in Thornhill this week.

?How many thousands will loose their livelihood before the McGuinty Liberals finally start paying attention to the economy?? demands Shurman, whose riding suffered a second economic blow in less than a month.

Yesterday, Vaughan-based Progressive Moulded Products announced it will shut down 11 of its Toronto-area plants, leaving 2,000 workers jobless. At the end of May that Canac Kitchens in Thornhill closed up shop and moved its operation out of Ontario, leaving 1,000 jobless.

?A 3000 job loss in a predominantly residential riding such as Thornhill is a symptom of our province?s decaying economy,? Shurman said. ?Meanwhile the McGuinty Liberals are too busy dictating to Ontarians how they should care for their lawns, where their kids can or cannot tan and are enacting repetitive legislation, rather than doing what needs to be done about the real issues facing Ontarians.?
